INTRODUCTION
Peake Software Labs offers two physician scheduling software products
that work together: Tangier EPS and Tangier Web. Tangier EPS is used by schedulers
or other administrative users to create/track provider work schedules.
Tangier Web is used by providers to access their schedules online and
perform certain schedule related tasks such as entering off requests, viewing
shift assignments, or swapping shifts. Both Tangier EPS and Web share the
same database so that changes made in one product are automatically
reflected in the other.

TANGIER EPS
Tangier EPS offers true "automated scheduling". Automated
schedule creation eliminates the onerous task of designing and redesigning
complex schedules every scheduling period. At the heart of our products is
a proprietary scheduling algorithm that uses "Intelligent Permutations"
to balance the competing demands of physician preferences, user-defined
fairness and proper facility coverage. With Tangier EPS, a 100% complete schedule and its publication
become a one-click solution. Changing circumstances can be easily and
quickly incorporated. Tangier's algorithm combines the advantages of a
handcrafted schedule with the timesaving of an automated system.
Tangier EPS is designed for use by both small and large emergency
departments/physician staffing groups. The scheduler(s) may access Tangier
EPS from any computer with an Internet connection, making scheduling
possible from almost anywhere. Tangier EPS can be configured with a full
range of application features such as Time & Accounting to automate the
tracing of over/under hours worked and payroll reporting.
Larger customers use Tangier EPS as a full-featured workforce management
application, dramatically streamlining the staffing process by reducing
administrative labor and improving timelines. These customers use Tangier EPS
to automatically schedule physicians in and across multiple facilities,
track/enforce credentials and practitioner types, define variable pay rates
and capture actual hours worked.
Because Tangier EPS integrates information for all facilities and
physicians in a single, large- scale database, customers enjoy
enterprise-wide staffing and cost accounting reporting. The number of
physicians and facilities supported by Tangier EPS is unlimited. For our
customers, Tangier EPS may interface with payroll, billing and
credentialing applications. Although "workforce" can be simply
physicians, organizations may also include physician assistants, nurse
practitioners, scribes and hospitalists under the Tangier EPS scheduling
umbrella.
With Tangier EPS management can view specific shifts where physicians
are working longer hours than planned and redefine coverage, reducing
payroll expense. Approved staff can view current shifts, incorporating
swaps and other changes, to see which physicians are actually expected to
be at a particular facility. Tangier EPS makes is easy to find out when
this physician is scheduled to work at a given facility.

TANGIER WEB
Customers may optionally implement Tangier Web to enhance physician
satisfaction, streamline provider communication, and reduce the scheduler’s
workload by automating the schedule request process and tracking of
overtime hours. Tangier Web enables physicians to directly participate in, and
therefore "own", the scheduling process. When physicians enter
their own requests, sign in/out of shifts, swap shifts, view updated
schedules and download to PDA's, accuracy is ensured and labor-intensive,
error-prone procedures are eliminated.
Tangier Web provides each physician with a secure Internet-based
"Personal Calendar" displaying "live" schedule
information specific to the physician. With a click of a button, this
information can be downloaded to a PDA for on-the-go access. Because the
schedule is in a Personal Calendar incorporating work and lifestyle
commitments, physicians have the ability to organize their lives in one
place.
Using Tangier Web, individual physicians can view "live"
information on where and when colleagues are assigned, incorporating the
latest changes or swaps. Not only is the master schedule available on-line,
but each time a shift change is made to the master schedule, each involved
physician's individual Personal Calendar is updated and involved physicians
are notified.
Tangier Web also gives physicians the ability to swap shifts via the
Internet with other qualified physicians. While our products produce the
fairest schedule possible for all physicians, change is inevitable. Because
all members of a department have equally "fair" schedules at the
beginning of a scheduling period, all are in a position to
"barter" or "swap" shifts with one another as
circumstances change.
In addition to enfranchising physicians, Tangier Web functionality
enables diverse personnel (management, administrators, payroll personnel,
hospital staff) to access the "live" information they need to more
efficiently do their jobs. Administrators can query to see where specific
physicians are working. When last-minute open shifts occur, administrators
can notify available physicians in real time and these physicians can
immediately request to work the shift.
Because Tangier Web may capture actual hours thru our sign-in/sign-out
feature, payroll personnel can calculate gross payroll with the click of a
button, knowing that up-to-the minute data capture ensures accuracy. Every
physician's pay correctly reflects hours worked and variable pay rates.
